The first game in the series was inspired by Damien Hirst's first "Spot Painting" from 1986. The piece is a depiction of the summer of 2013 when I realized that I was in a losing fight against scleroderma, or so it seemed at the time. The game has a 1980s asteroids-like mechanic and is unwinnable in order to depict the feeling of being overwhelmed by forces beyond my control. It is the time frame before any treatment or medication was administered, a time of slipping away from life itself. In this game each new level is indicated by a new word from the title. When the player sees the new word a new wave of spots will be spawned. The implied objective is for the player to clear the screen of the spots but, they will discover that this is a losing proposition. The spots will inevitably overwhelm the player.
